Conclusions
At its 4 th meeting, on 15 September, having considered a proposal by the Chairman, the SBSTA adopted the following conclusions:
(a) The SBSTA considered the report by the Chairman on the status of the transfer of technology consultative process and the draft text of a framework for meaningful and effective actions to enhance the implementation of Article 4.5 of the Convention (FCCC/SBSTA/2000/8) and the report presented by the Chairman on the outcome of an informal consultation organized in Golden, Colorado, United States of America, from 2 to 4 August 2000. It expressed its appreciation for the kind assistance provided by the Government of the United States in providing a venue for the consultation;
(b) The SBSTA considered the above-mentioned draft text of a framework for meaningful and effective actions to enhance the implementation of Article 4.5 of the Convention. It agreed to further consider a revised draft text (FCCC/SBSTA/2000/10/Add.4) and additional submissions on this matter received from the Parties, including document FCCC/SBSTA/2000/MISC.9, at the second part of its thirteenth session;
(c) The SBSTA invited the Chairman, with the assistance of the secretariat, to organize an informal meeting and brief presentation at the second part of its thirteenth session on the outcome of the three regional workshops that had been held on the transfer of technology consultative process (one in Africa, one in Asia and the Pacific, and one in Latin America and the Caribbean);
(d) The SBSTA noted the interim report by the Development Assistance Committee of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development on financial assistance for the Rio conventions;
(e) The SBSTA also expressed appreciation to the secretariat for the information it had provided on a preliminary framework for a technology information system. It requested the secretariat to further elaborate a proposal for activities in this area at the second part of its thirteenth session, taking into account (i) the resource implications of continuing this work at different levels of effort and (ii) the discussions held on this proposal.
