Coordination of Graduate Programs in Engineering of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPE/UFRJ) by means of the Energy and Environmental Planning Program (PPE) and the COPPETEC Foundation
Under this partnership, a contract was signed in 2000 between MCT and the COPPETEC Foundation for the development of the project “Monitoring of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Thermoelectric Power Plants in Brazil – Diagnosis Phase”, which includes the preparation of a diagnosis of the current thermoelectric power plants and perspectives, including the gas monitoring systems already implemented and to be implemented; the identification of the different methodologies available for greenhouse gas emissions monitoring in thermoelectric plants; and the preparation of a methodological proposal for future monitoring. The budget for this project was set at R$ 70,506 (seventy thousand, five hundred and six reals), to be provided by MCT/Climate Change Program. A timeframe of 1 (one) year was established for the development of this project.
