Purpose
The Kyoto Protocol establishes in its Article 12 the Clean Development Mechanism, stating in the third paragraph that under the Clean Development Mechanism the Parties not included in Annex I, including Brazil, will benefit from project activities resulting in certified emission reductions.
The objective of including this action in the Program is thus to analyze projects under the Clean Development Mechanism that result in emission reductions in the sectors of energy, industry, solvent use, agriculture and livestock, land-use change and forestry and waste treatment and in carbon uptake by means of reforestation or establishment of new forests, as well as build the capacity of institutions and specialists to work with the Clean Development Mechanism and with the certification of CDM projects, contract studies and conduct technical visits to projects approved by the Interministerial Commission on Global Climate Change.
Implementation of actions
This action will make it possible to assess the contribution to sustainable development of projects submitted to the Interministerial Commission on Global Climate Change under the Clean Development Mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol; build the capacity of institutions and specialists in the area of global climate change; contract studies; conduct technical visits to projects approved by the Interministerial Commission.
