Notícia sobre a Rio +20 Interactive attractions inform and entertain visitors
14/06/2012 - 18:42

Rio+20 not only offers discussion groups and traditional exhibitions at Pier Mauá. At Warehouse 4, which hosts Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development Area, you can find several sectors that allow visitors to interact with the exhibits, making the passing on of information more dynamic. The venue is coordinated by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI).

The Carbon Tree, an interactive panel with motion sensors, allows visitors who standing in front of a projection to plant a virtual tree. Right at the opening of the event, at 9 am on Wednesday (June 13), children from the Luiz Delfino da Gavea School in the south zone of Rio de Janeiro had fun with the tree.

"I am a veteran of this type of event. The students leave here thrilled, they don’t want to go,” says the teacher, Daniel Friebe. "The importance of this show is that science is part of everyday life in the classroom, but here it is much more a part of the fair," he adds.

Another possibility for interaction is on the Collectivity Floor, an interactive projection on the floor showing content based on the fundamental principles of Rio+20, such as sustainability, environmental conservation, and the eradication of poverty. At the heart of Warehouse 4, touchscreens show the work done by different institutes under the MCTI, as well as trivia on the main themes of the fair.
