Notícia sobre a Rio +20 Scientific and Technological Exhibitions begin this Wednesday
14/06/2012 - 14:53

On Wednesday (June 13) the Scientific and Technological Exhibitions for Sustainable Development will open. Pavilion 4, on Avenida Rodrigues Alves, Píer Mauá, is coordinated by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and is subdivided into three areas: the MCTI Area and Biodiversity Exhibition Area; the Multisensory Biomes of Brazil Exhibition, and the Popularization of Science Area.

The warehouse will house interactive exhibitions, talks, workshops, scientific experiments, and videos about Rio+20 themes: the green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication, and the institutional framework for sustainable development.

Visitors start their journey right at the entrance to pavilion 4, where the bamboo bubble and solar boat are set up. The first structure shows some of the advances made in global research and development into technologies that use bamboo as raw material. The solar boat is a pilot project on the installation of infrastructure to supply solar power to Amazon communities, generating income and creating self-sustainability.

In the inner area of the pavilion virtual meetings will be held among young people from various regions of the planet, as well as the launch of books and videos on science. The highlight is a virtual tree that will be "fed" by children, young people and the general public with messages about Rio+20. The Environment, Science and Technology Fair will show dozens of projects done by elementary and middle school in Rio de Janeiro. Institutions under the MCTI will have stands presenting their missions and activities.
